ガーディアン紙が毎年出している大学ランキング、
University Guide 2016: league table for journalism, publishing and PRで、
カーディフ大学のSchool of Journalism, Media & Cultural Studiesは
UKで１位になったので、本当に嬉しい。。。

ちなみに2015年度版では４位だったので、まさかの大躍進。

いや〜最近はIELTSの勉強をしないといけないのに、
学校の友人と飲みに行ったり、
今週末に日本から親友が遊びに来るということもあって、
ダラダラモードです。

体調が芳しくないのもあるんですけど。。。
帰って休もう。

基本的には語学学校は１日も休まず通っているので、
（だいたい朝の１０時半から夜の８時まで）
たまに、突然熱を出したり、体がだるくなったりします。

ちゃんと休養をとって、また集中して勉強しなくちゃ。
今週末は日本から来る親友とタイの観光をするので久しぶりに観光に関する記事も書けたらいいなと思っています！

あ、そういえばこのブログ、一部の友人たちには紹介済みなのですが、
久しぶりに大学の頃のいつメンのラインが動いてて
読んでるよ〜なんてコメントもらって、嬉しかったり。

いつメン以外にも、読んでくれている友人たちには感謝です。ありがとう。

IELTS Writing Task2 ②

IELTSのライティングのエッセイ！
問題はケンブリッジのIELTS7のTest2より。

犯罪者への刑罰は罪によって定められているべきか、情状酌量すべきか。

"Making punishment fixed or flexible is a debatable issue. Some people believe that a fixed punishment is the best way to deter people from committing crimes. Meanwhile, others believe that a penalty should be decided by taking circumstances into account. This essay will talk about both opinions.

To begin with, a fixed punishment would provide society with some advantages. Firstly, if every penalty was unchangeable, every offender would be treated equally by the justice system regardless of their age or motivation. In Japan, for example, there was a juvenile crime which was committed by a 15 year old girl. She testified that she had known that she would be judged under the juvenile laws before she murdered her classmate. In fact, she was judged by the juvenile laws. If the laws had been fixed, she would have been judged the same as the other murderers, which might have been more equal.

However, there are some advantages of making punishment flexible. Some crimes are committed intentionally, whereas others are done without intention. For instance, there are crimes which have been committed by insane people. If  penalties were fixed, criminals who premeditated their crimes and those who are insane or committed crimes accidentally would be given exactly same sentences, which is unfair. Therefore, I personally believe that punishments should be changeable.

In conclusion, although I agree with the idea that penalties should be fixed, I believe that punishment should be changed depending on the motivations and the situation of the crime. (249)"


打ち込んでみたら、１ワード足りてなかったw
前回はバランスがあまりにも悪かったので、バランスを意識して書いてみました。

何しろ、題材が難しいよなあ〜
学校のオーストラリア人の法学部出ている人にどう思う？って聞いて
意見をもらってから書き始めました。

ムズーイ。
意識してsynonym使ったり、難しい言葉使うとスペルミスとかしちゃうので、
もう少しスペルに強くなろう！

IELTS Writing Task2 ①

３月末か４月にIELTSの再受験をしようと考えているので、
エッセイの勉強を始めました。

以下、私のエッセイです。
添削済みなので、文法ミスはないはず？
見逃してる可能性はありですけど、突っ込まないでください。笑

問題は、IELTS7 Writing Task2より。

天才はトレーニングと教育で作れるか作れないかの問題ですね。
少し前までは問題文をそのまま引用していたのですが、
著作権の問題で、問題文の引用をやめました。

私の回答のみ載せます。

"Some people believe that not everyone can be a genius in a certain field. Meanwhile, others think that if children get proper training and teaching, they can be successful sports players or musicians. This essay will discuss both opinions.

To begin with, it is well acknowledged that everyone has a different genetic make-up. There are some people who have superior genes, which provide them with special talents or physical advantages. For example, one of the most famous composers Mozart made a piece of music when he was a toddler. Therefore, no one can deny that there are some people who were born with superior genes.

However, some people believe that there is no mediocrity and everyone has a talent. This opinion can be supported by the idea that having a strong desire to be eminent and a supportive environment is an important factor as well as hereditary things. For instance, there is a famous baseball player named Ichiro Suzuki who is over 40 and still an active major league player in the United States. It is well known that his father was extremely enthusiastic to make him a baseball player. Since he was in primary school, his father tried to support everything which could help him to be a great baseball player. As a result, Ichiro has become one of the most famous baseball players although he doesn't have any relatives who are athletes and his physical condition is quite average. Thus, it can be said that every child can be a genius, if they have opportunity to have a supportive environment.

In conclusion, although I agree with the idea that genes have a strong influence on being able to be talented, I also believe that every child has potential to be a remarkable athlete or musician. (297)"


なんか、すごいバランス悪い。
手書きだとバランスの悪さにあんまり気がつかなかったのですが、
打ち込んで比べてみると、Body1に比べてBody2が長すぎて。笑

正直、IELTSのライティングって本当にアイデアが思いつかなくて。。。
大の苦手。。。

これから毎日エッセイ書こうっと。
もちろん毎日エッセイのアップはしません！

今日は９月３日ぶりにIELTSのエッセイを書いたので、
５ヶ月ぶり？？？

久しぶりに書くとなかなか感覚がつかめないけど、
５ヶ月の間に使えるボキャブラリーが増えたなあと実感。

オファー新着情報（カーディフ）。

やったああああああ！！！！！！！

第一志望のカーディフ大学より、ついにオファーが出ました！！！

ただ、ここで問題が発生。
前回書いた(読んでない方はこちらからどうぞ)
Bachelor of Arts問題が未だに尾を引いていたようで、
合格通知のメールには、条件が２つ。

え？２つ？？？IELTSだけじゃないの？？？

と思って読んでいたら、
条件①：学士号のBA German Literatureを証明すること
と書いてあって、不安と同時にイライラが。。。

早速、留学フェアで日本人の先輩を紹介してくださったバリーさんにメールをしました。

その前日に、留学フェアでお世話になったことへのお礼のメールをしており、
ばりーさんからの返信に、「進捗情報教えてね〜！」とあったので、
まずは正式にオファーを頂いたことの報告を。
そのついでに、学位の証明書についての今までの経緯と現在の状況を説明しました。

内容はこんな感じ。

「おかげさまでオファーをもらうことができました。でも、条件の件でこれこれこういう問題があって、明日、Admission Teamにメールしようと思うのですが、前回説明済みなのに今回のオファーでも言ってきたので、またメールしても読んでもらえないんじゃないかと正直不安です、、、」と書いたら、

そうしたらなんと！！！

「おめでとう！君のメールをもらって、システム上でチェックしてみたんだけど、君の提出してある証明書は充分っていうか、それ以上です。たまに登録の段階でミスがあるんだよね。俺の方から連絡して、条件はIELTSだけにするように言っておいたからもう大丈夫だよ〜。とにかく本当におめでとう！」

と、期待を１０倍上回る返信と、仕事の早さ。
メールしてから１時間以内にこの返信が来たので、びっくり。

世界上位の大学の職員さんはやっぱり違いますね。

私の通っていた大学の職員なんて、本当に、
偉そうなだけで仕事もちゃんとしないし、どうしようもなかった。。。

正直、バリーさんの肩書きはDirector of Recruitment, Admissions and International Developmentと言うもので、なんだかちょっと偉い感じの雰囲気が漂っていたので、もしかして？？と少し期待してAdmission Teamに問い合わせる前にバリーさんに連絡してみたのですが、大正解でした！

バリーさんさまさま。
バリーさん、本当に親切で信頼できる方です。
カーディフ大学に興味のある方は、留学フェアに行く際はバリーさんを探してみては？笑

カーディフの条件はIELTS7.0 (6.0 each)なので、
明日からはまたIELTSの勉強に励みたいと思います。

※ちなみに、お金に余裕がある人は10週間のPre-sessional courseを

受ければ求められるIELTSスコアはもっと低くなります。

いやーそれにしても。
第一志望のカーディフのみならず、多くの大学院からオファーをもらえたのは、
本当に私の実力ではなく、周りの人たちの助けがあったからです。

ひとまず、お世話になった人たちにお礼をして回ろうと思います。
特にお世話になった人たちには、何かしないと〜。どうしよっかな！

それも明日考えようっと。
